We are tandem bike riders!

Believe it or not Martin has talked me into getting on a tandem bike and going for rides! Most of the time we ride around The Villages, but sometimes we get out on one of the many trails in the area. This one is the Withlacoochie Trail. It's lots of fun but I am still getting adjusted to a bike seat. We have tried so many and I have finally settled on one, but it will still take time before I can go more than 15 miles without whining!

Golfing in The Villages

Martin and I have really been enjoying golfing this year. (Well... he is enjoying it a little more than I am because his drives have greatly improved. He's getting the ball on the green in one shot most of the time! I, on the other hand, do not.) We have some really beautiful nine hole courses to choose from. These pictures are from a course that has lots of Live Oaks and natural grasses.

Progress?

They are building a new courthouse in Salt Lake City. Sounds good, right? When we arrived at our condo the first thing we noticed was the HUGE crane at the construction site. The site that is right across the street. We have been wondering how tall the building will be and Martin found out from someone on the elevator. 14 stories! We are on the 7th floor. There goes about half of our view! You can't fight progress.

The Final Launch of a Space Shuttle

Over the years we have been lucky enough to witness at least 7 or 8 shuttle take-offs. (Not up close, but from a distance.) The first time we were driving in our RV going past St. Augustine when I saw a fire in the sky. It took me a second to realize what I was looking at, but it was so exciting. The most amazing one was from an airplane flying from Orlando to Baltimore at night! Since moving to Florida we have seen some from our own neighborhood. I wish I could say that I took these pictures from Cape Canaveral but we didn't feel like battling the crowds. (And we were pretty sure the launch would be postponed today.) It turned out the only pictures I got were from the TV because...

Aww shucks!

We went to our usual viewing spot overlooking the third tee of the Roosevelt Golf Course, but it was raining and too cloudy to see anything! How disappointing!

Florida Clouds

The clouds here in Florida can be such show-offs! In the afternoons during the summer they usually start building up and can get quite dramatic. I always enjoy the show.
