Over the years we have been lucky enough to witness at least 7 or 8 shuttle take-offs. (Not up close, but from a distance.) The first time we were driving in our RV going past St. Augustine when I saw a fire in the sky. It took me a second to realize what I was looking at, but it was so exciting. The most amazing one was from an airplane flying from Orlando to Baltimore at night! Since moving to Florida we have seen some from our own neighborhood. I wish I could say that I took these pictures from Cape Canaveral but we didn't feel like battling the crowds. (And we were pretty sure the launch would be postponed today.)

The Final Launch of a Space Shuttle
